FIRST TIME SAILING!! :)

Hello everybody I am about to tell you about our day but first I have to tell you that I am not Susan. I am Lily. Okay, now that you it’s me, I can start telling you about our day.

We have started our real adventure, which everybody knows is sailing. We started motoring but once we got to the ocean we pulled out the jib and turned off the motor and started sailing through blue and crystal clear waters.

“Do you want to drive?” my Dad asked. “Sure” I said back. So I put my life jacket on and went up to the drivers seat and stood up on it. I started steering the boat… But when we started heeling I said “No thanks” and ran back downstairs and started playing on my Kindle again.

  1. Wow Lily !!! What a wonderful writer you are !!! Honestly, I just read “First Time Sailing” three times to make sure it was not your mother’s writing. Of course I believe it is your writing because you say so. My reaction just shows what a really fine writer you already are. You may not know this Lily. My praise of your writing emanates from my career as a teacher/professor of creative writing and English from middle school to college level students. So please do some more writing about your sailing adventures!

We are really enjoying Salvio Sails whether the writing comes from Susan or Lily.

Now Lily, …………….about your heeling feeling. Your Dad & Mom most likely have already told you all about angles of heeling & probably how to keep your eye on Chicadee’s inclinometer. When Kathryn (you know my granddaughter) is at the helm of my sailboat Panache, she works at keeping our heel angle at less than 10 0/0. So you may want to try that next time you are “skippering”.

      1. Hi Frank,

Our boat doesn’t have a inclinometer. We sailed today and I really didn’t notice the heeling, because the engine was on!
*Mom note: light winds and motor sailing!!

  2. Dear Lily:

That was a good move. Have you seen any pirates yet? They are all over Miami mostly dressed in expensive suits. Dinner Key is a good place to dive down and get lobsters. They do not have any claws and you can just pick them up. A license is recommend as a Marine Patrol Officer once reminded your Grandfather….

  3. Hi Lily!
It sounds like you are having a fantastic time with lots of new adventures. We miss you all and can’t wait to see you once you are back home.
    Love you,
    Aunt Martha
    p.s. I don’t like heeling on a boat much either…😉

  4. Hi Lil,
You are a wonderful write indeed! I feel the same way about the heeling thing – I would have been down below with you (or on the high side of the boat). Love and miss you two little ladies to bits! xoxo
